"Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference."

What is Systemic Counseling?

In the systemic approach, a person is viewed within the context of their entire environment, which includes family, friends, school, and workplace. Rather than focusing solely on the individual, systemic counseling examines how that person interacts with others and how these relationships influence their well-being.

Problems often arise when there is an imbalance in communication or relationships. Therefore, systemic counseling not only looks at individual behavior but also explores the interactions within the social systems in which the person lives and works.

A central principle of systemic counseling is the belief that every person is an expert on their own life. Through targeted, unbiased questioning, the counselor helps the client view the situation from various perspectives. This approach enables the client to overcome obstacles and find new ways to manage difficulties.

Systemic counseling emphasizes discovering and strengthening personal resources, with the goal of improving quality of life and increasing satisfaction. The approach is solution-oriented, focusing on collaboratively developing a vision for solutions rather than dwelling solely on the problems.

New Authority in Parental Counseling

The New Authority approach, developed by Prof. Haim Omer (Tel Aviv), offers a modern form of parental leadership based on strengthening authority through personal presence, self-control, and constructive relationship-building. Rather than relying on power and control, this approach focuses on supporting parents by encouraging them to send clear, consistent, and non-violent messages. Parents learn to adopt a firm stance rooted in respect and appreciation, while avoiding destructive power struggles. The goal is to create an environment where children recognize their boundaries while also feeling heard and understood. The New Authority approach emphasizes the importance of a supportive network and promotes the idea that change and growth are more successful in a safe, stable environment. The interventions of New Authority are based on these seven pillars:

Parents are intentionally present and attentive in their parenting. This means they actively engage in their child's world, responding respectfully and non-violently to their behavior. This presence creates a sense of security and strengthens the bond.

Systemic Counseling and New Authority

Systemic parent counseling and the New Authority approach complement each other perfectly, as both are grounded in a deep understanding of relationships and the dynamics within social systems. The systemic approach examines problems in the context of family and relationship patterns, viewing behavior as an expression of interactions within the system. The New Authority builds on this by focusing on non-violent resistance and strengthening parental presence to avoid power struggles and restore balance in the family system. Both approaches foster a respectful and appreciative parent-child relationship through the involvement of support networks and an emphasis on constructive communication. This combination enables parents to clarify their role, strengthen their resources, and create lasting, positive changes within the family.
